LOUISVILLE, Colorado, 29 juill.

Saving Birds in Wind Farms With AI: Boulder Imaging and Oikon Launch IdentiFlight in Croatia

Pročitajte ovu objavu na hrvatskom na www.identiflight.com/blog/oikon.

LOUISVILLE, Colo., July 29, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Boulder Imaging has partnered with Oikon Ltd., Croatia’s leading environmental consultancy, to bring AI–powered bird protection technology to wind farms across Southeast Europe. Through the deployment of Boulder Imaging’s IdentiFlight system, the partnership supports the growing demand for sustainable wind development while also protecting biodiversity.

As Croatia ramps up renewable energy under the European Green Deal, strict permitting requirements now mandate detailed environmental impact assessments, particularly for wind farms near Natura 2000 sites. IdentiFlight’s real–time bird detection and automated turbine curtailment capabilities help developers meet these standards, reducing permitting risk while protecting high–concern species such as Eurasian griffons, honey buzzards, short–toed snake eagles, golden eagles, and kestrels.

“IdentiFlight is a proven solution that aligns with our mission to harmonize development with nature conservation,” said Dalibor Hatić, general manager of Oikon Ltd. “We’re excited to bring this cutting–edge technology to Croatia and the broader Southeast European region where wind energy is expanding and biodiversity protection is critical. Our goal is to ensure that wind development can thrive without compromising our common natural heritage.”

“Partnering with Oikon Ltd. enhances our ability to deliver conservation–driven technology where it’s most needed,” said Don Mills, President and Chief Operating Officer of Boulder Imaging. “Together, we’re advancing the role of AI in biodiversity protection and accelerating responsible wind energy growth in Croatia and beyond.”

With more than 520 systems deployed across five continents, IdentiFlight has reduced bird fatalities by over 85% while maintaining a power generation loss of less than 1% in wind farms. The first systems in Croatia are planned for 2026, with an initial focus on sensitive migratory corridors and ecologically valuable terrain.

DP World Partners with Watershed to Scale Sustainability Reporting and Low-Carbon Logistics Across Europe

LONDON, July 16, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — DP World, a global leader in logistics management, is accelerating its climate strategy with enterprise sustainability platform Watershed.

DP World operates in over 75 countries, each with different systems, expectations, and sustainability maturity. With fragmented data, mounting regulatory pressure from frameworks like the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), and rising customer demand for transparency, the company needed a centralised way to understand and report emissions in Europe. To help meet these challenges, DP World selected Watershed, citing its speed of deployment, cost–effectiveness, and ability to scale without additional consulting services.

“Previously, DP World relied on internal data collection methods that did not meet sustainability requirements for detailed analytical data or evolving national and regional disclosure standards,” said Nicholas Mazzei, VP Sustainability Europe at DP World. “Watershed came in as the best partner to help us attain our sustainability goals while allowing us to be flexible and cost–efficient. Regardless of whether disclosure is a legal requirement, understanding our data helps us better understand our business.”

Connecting sustainability and finance

DP World’s sustainability and finance teams in Europe are working hand–in–hand to embed sustainability data into broader business performance metrics. This cross–functional collaboration is essential to long–term business success.

“We have to align sustainability decisions as much as we can with business decisions, and the challenge for business is to find ways of making them align,” said DP World Europe Chief Financial Officer John Woollacott. “All kinds of stakeholders—clients and suppliers, employees and would–be employees on top of regulators—do want to know where a company stands and having a way of keeping score is important. But it is critical that reporting doesn't get over complicated and focuses on a small number of the most important KPIs.”

Watershed enables automated data collection and analysis at both site and country levels, giving DP World the ability to deliver accurate, timely emissions data to customers and regulators. With Watershed, DP World will be able to calculate customer–level emissions, enabling the finance and sustainability teams to collaborate on real–world decision–making—for example, giving both teams the data to weigh the carbon impact and cost trade–offs of shifting a freight flow from road to barge. This will allow DP World to respond rapidly to client sustainability data requests, while giving the finance team full transparency to assess ROI and operational value.

ABOUT WATERSHED: Watershed is the enterprise sustainability platform. Companies like FedEx, General Motors, Visa, and Spotify use Watershed to manage climate and ESG data, produce audit–ready metrics for voluntary and regulatory reporting including CSRD, and drive real decarbonisation. Watershed’s measurement methodology is based on science–based targets to enable measurements with materials–specific emissions factors. Watershed customers also have exclusive access to a marketplace of pre–vetted, high–quality carbon projects and groundbreaking virtual power purchase agreements.

Fifty Governments Stand Firm on the Drive for Economic Resilience

Rotterdam, the Netherlands, April 16, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) today hosted an inaugural Ambassadors’ Forum galvanizing global support for accelerating adaptation at speed and at scale. The event, hosted at the GCA’s Rotterdam Headquarters, called on governments, industries and civil society to redouble efforts to build “resilient economies” as the growth engine for the 21st century.

Ambassadors and senior diplomatic representatives from 50 nations gathered in a show of support and unity for the adaptation and resilience agenda. Delegates committed to spurring sustainable growth, fostering new industries, driving innovation, and unlocking private finance to ease mounting pressures on development aid and public climate finance. The global market for climate adaptation solutions—such as advanced weather analytics, parametric insurance, and water–efficient infrastructure— is projected to be worth USD 2 trillion annually by 2026.

Welcoming the attendees, Professor Patrick V. Verkooijen, President & CEO of the Global Center on Adaptation, lauded the diplomatic community for recognizing that adaptation is not merely a defensive measure but an essential component of global economic strategy: “We are already in the ‘Resilience Endgame’. We must prepare today for the 1.5–degree world. The devastating global impacts we see today need not define the society of tomorrow. The escape plan is to double down on adaptation and capture its incredible economic dividends.” He added that “the Africa Adaptation Acceleration Program, our flagship initiative, the largest adaptation program in the world, has shown us that growth and building resilience are intrinsically linked. But we can do so much more – together. Adaptation is about future–proofing our economies, protecting critical infrastructure, safeguarding food supplies, and ensuring that new opportunities can thrive in changing conditions. By rallying together, we multiply the impact of innovative investments and encourage the ‘resilience dividend’—the powerful, compounding benefits that flow from forward–thinking action.”

Delivering remarks, Professor Jan Peter Balkenende, Former Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Minister of State, and Executive Board Member of the GCA, emphasized that genuine progress on climate resilience will unlock broad–based dividends: “What happens in the most vulnerable countries does not stay there. Climate change amplifies food insecurity, migration, and conflict. In fragile states, environmental stress can become a security threat. Europe and the world must take this seriously. Investing in resilience is not only right — it is wise.” He added that “This is why we need true global cooperation, based on shared interest and shared responsibility.”

Reflecting on adaptation efforts in Africa and beyond, H.E. Halima Mucheke, Ambassador of the Republic of Kenya in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, spoke about the significance of GCA’s new headquarters in Nairobi: “Kenya is proud to host the GCA’s new headquarters in Nairobi which will intensify support for adaptation programs across Africa, leading these programs North–South. Around the world, resilient infrastructure is the hot new investment class. Climate adaptation is a framework for protecting infrastructure, securing food systems and creating new business and job opportunities. And it is being aided by a thriving market in climate solutions.” He added that “The continent’s leading initiative in this area – the Africa Adaptation Acceleration Programme (AAAP) – has already channelled more than $15bn to strengthen essential systems against climate shocks. These funds are helping to secure the adaptability and livelihoods of nearly 60 million vulnerable people in 40 countries. We need to keep scaling this up, working as a global community, North–South, South–South, South–North–all together.”

Following the opening remarks delegates also heard from the lead architect and founder of Powerhouse Company, Nanne de Ru, about how GCA’s European headquarters at the Floating Office Rotterdam is an award–winning sustainable building recognized worldwide as a model for climate–resilient infrastructure.
The reception forms part of GCA’s broader advocacy strategy to advance climate adaptation solutions worldwide—focusing on protecting infrastructure, securing food systems, catalysing economic growth, and fostering global collaboration. By bringing together high–level diplomats, GCA reinforced its role as a leading international organisation in developing and implementing adaptation strategies that bolster economies against intensifying climate shocks.

Staatliches Eigenkapital statt Staatsschulden
