The DPF is a transatlantic data transfer mechanism that enables U.S.–based organizations to receive and process personal data from the European Union in compliance with European privacy laws, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The framework provides robust safeguards, enforcement mechanisms, and redress options to ensure personal data remains protected when transferred outside the EU.

GLASGOW, Écosse, 29 mai 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Mavenir, fournisseur d’infrastructures réseau basées sur le cloud, en collaboration avec Three UK, opérateur téléphonique, et Red Hat, leader mondial des solutions open source, a démontré avec succès les avantages et la performance des petites cellules 5G, non autonomes et conformes à la norme O–RAN, dans le centre–ville de Glasgow, doublant les débits 5G aux heures de pointe.

Cet essai historique, le premier au Royaume–Uni, de l’Open RAN dans un environnement urbain dense marque également le premier déploiement en direct de petites cellules conformes à la norme O–RAN fonctionnant en parallèle des macrocellules existantes des fournisseurs traditionnels dans cet environnement. Le résultat est une réduction considérable de la congestion du trafic grâce à une couverture de haute qualité et une capacité accrue. Au cours de la phase initiale de l’essai, les débits 4G et 5G ont doublé pendant les heures les plus chargées de la journée. Les débits 5G de Three UK ont même atteint le chiffre impressionnant de 520 Mbps dans toute la zone d’essai. L’augmentation de la capacité a également entraîné des améliorations des performances et de l’expérience utilisateur dans les zones environnantes.

Après l’essai réussi de 18 zones en service dans le centre–ville de Glasgow, le projet passe maintenant à la phase finale de déploiement, portant le nombre total de zones avec petites cellules Open RAN à 34.

Le déploiement par Mavenir d’une couche de densification des petites cellules pour Three UK s’inscrit dans le cadre du projet SCONDA (ou Petites Cellules Open RAN en Zones Denses). Cette initiative clé dans le domaine de la connectivité est soutenue par le ministère britannique des Sciences, de l’Innovation et de la Technologie (DSIT en anglais). Ce projet représente une avancée significative pour l’Open RAN au Royaume–Uni, car il teste pour la première fois l’intégration d’une architecture Open RAN entièrement décentralisée à l’infrastructure traditionnelle existante dans un environnement urbain au trafic dense et à la fréquentation élevée.

GLASGOW, Schottland, May 29, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Mavenir, cloud–nativer Anbieter von Netzwerkinfrastruktur, hat in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Mobilfunkanbieter Three UK und dem weltweit führenden Anbieter von Open–Source–Lösungen, Red Hat, erfolgreich die Leistungsfähigkeit von 5G–Non–Standalone–O–RAN–konformen Kleinzellen im Stadtzentrum von Glasgow demonstriert – mit einer Verdopplung der 5G–Geschwindigkeiten zu Spitzenzeiten.

Dieser wegweisende, erstmals in Großbritannien durchgeführte Test von Open RAN in einer dicht besiedelten urbanen Umgebung markiert zugleich den ersten Live–Einsatz von O–RAN–konformen Kleinzellen, die in diesem Umfeld neben bestehenden Makrozellen traditioneller Anbieter betrieben werden und so eine deutliche Entlastung der Netzwerküberlastung durch hochwertige Netzabdeckung und zusätzliche Kapazität ermöglichen. In der Anfangsphase des Tests verdoppelten sich sowohl die 4G– als auch die 5G–Geschwindigkeiten während der datenverkehrsreichsten Tageszeiten, wobei die 5G–Geschwindigkeiten von Three UK im Testgebiet beeindruckende 520 Mbit/s erreichten. Der Kapazitätszuwachs führte zudem zu weiteren Verbesserungen der Leistung und Nutzererfahrung in umliegenden Standorten.

Nach dem erfolgreichen Test von 18 aktiven Standorten im Stadtzentrum von Glasgow geht das Projekt nun in die finale Umsetzungsphase über und erhöht die Gesamtzahl der Open–RAN–Kleinzellenstandorte auf 34.

Die Einführung einer Kleinzellen–Verdichtungsschicht für Three UK durch Mavenir erfolgt im Rahmen des SCONDA–Projekts (Small Cells O–RAN in Dense Areas) – einer wichtigen Konnektivitätsinitiative, die vom britischen Ministerium für Wissenschaft, Innovation und Technologie (DSIT) unterstützt wird. Das Projekt stellt einen bedeutenden Fortschritt für Open RAN in Großbritannien dar, da erstmals die Integration einer vollständig dezentralisierten Open–RAN–Architektur in die bestehende traditionelle Infrastruktur in einer stark frequentierten Stadt mit hohem Datenaufkommen getestet wird.
